Buy/Sell/Rent/Lease - Tips For Dealing With Real Estate Brokers

Brokers are becoming increasingly important in real estate transactions. In the urban context, where individuals do not have easy access to real estate information, brokers play an important role with their expertise, simplifying and smoothening the transactions. Without their support, it is very difficult for buyers and sellers
to meet each other, negotiate deals, do the official paper work and close the deal. Here are a few tips that will help you deal with them:

The most important thing is that your broker should be a trustworthy person. Never entertain a broker without checking out his/her credentials. If you need the services of a broker, always ask somebody to suggest one, instead of selecting one without any reference.

Brokers usually specialise in certain types of properties. While some deal, mostly, with commercial properties, others specialise in residential. Depending on your requirement, you need to get to the broker with the right specialisation.

Some of the brokers are interested only in big deals, and therefore, are not useful to clients with low-budget requirements. Go to the broker who suits your requirements.

Brokers are also location specific. Depending on the location, you need to zero in on the brokers who know that particular location
very well. Otherwise, you may not get good service from them.

Specify your requirements and preferences very clearly to the broker, in the initial stage itself. Discuss all terms and conditions with the brokers before you hire them. Later on, it may cause you troubles. If possible, sign a service contract with your broker mentioning the services that he/she would be offering.

Commission. This is the most important point to note when you hire a broker. Be very clear with your broker as to how much you would pay him/her. Also find out if there is any hidden cost involved.

Pay the commission only after your requirement is fulfilled.
